UISP Fiber - Client Isolation
Readers will learn how to configure the Client Isolation and IGMP Snooping options on a UFiber OLT.
Default Client Settings on the UFiber OLT
Deployment scenario where a UFiber OLT and ONUs are used to provide connectivity to different client sites.
In the example diagram above, a UFiber OLT 4 (UF-OLT-4) is connected to several UFiber ONUs (UF-Nano / UF-LOCO). Each ONU is providing connectivity to an individual client site (location A and B). By default, no communication is allowed between the different client sites. This means that a host present at location A is not able to reach another host at location B. This is applicable to all traffic types (unicast, multicast and broadcast). The Client Isolation feature is used to block this traffic and is enabled by default on the OLT. The feature can optionally be disabled if needed in a specific deployment scenario.
Configuring Client Isolation
Follow the steps below to disable the Client Isolation feature using the OLT Web UI:
1. Navigate to the System settings tab.
2. Disable the feature in the GPON section.
System settings > GPON > Client isolation
Client isolation: Uncheck
3. If IGMP Snooping also needs to be disabled, uncheck the IGMP snooping option as well.
System settings > GPON > IGMP snooping
IGMP snooping: Uncheck
4. Save the changes.
To disable the Client Isolation and IGMP Snooping Feature using the Ubiquiti Network Management System (UNMS), follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to the Devices and select the UFiber OLT.
2. Select Settings and disable the Client Isolation and optionally the IGMP Snooping feature in the System section.
Devices > UFiber OLT > Settings > System > GPON
Client isolation: OFF
IGMP snooping: OFF
3. Save the changes.
